RHEL7: How to configure a remote directory.

Go to the directory of the repositories:

# cd /etc/yum.repos.d

Create a file called centos7.repo and paste the following content into it:

name=CentOS-$releasever - Base
mirrorlist=http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=$releasever&arch=$basearch&repo=os
#baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/$releasever/os/$basearch/
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-CentOS-7

#released updates 
[updates]
name=CentOS-$releasever - Updates
mirrorlist=http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=$releasever&arch=$basearch&repo=updates

gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-CentOS-7

Alternatively, if you know where a repository file is located (here www.example.org/myrepo.repo), you can install it like this:

# yum-config-manager --add-repo="http://www.example.org/myrepo.repo"

Clean up the configuration and activate the new remote repository:

# yum clean all
# yum repolist all
